1. What Openhand is
Openhand is a deck-building tool for the Pokémon Trading Card Game. It lets you search cards, build decks, and save them to your account. It also surfaces community tournament data and links to purchase cards through TCGPlayer.
Openhand is operated by an individual based in the United States and is not affiliated with Nintendo, The Pokémon Company, or Wizards of the Coast.
2. Accounts
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. By creating an account you confirm you meet this requirement.
You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. Contact us if you believe your account has been compromised.
One account per person. Do not create accounts on behalf of others without their knowledge.
3. Free and Pro plans
Pro plan (coming soon): Unlimited saved decks. Billed as a subscription via Stripe. Pricing will be posted before launch.
We reserve the right to change plan features and pricing with reasonable advance notice. If we raise the price of Pro, existing subscribers will be notified at least 30 days before the change takes effect.
Subscription billing and cancellation will be handled through Stripe. We do not store your payment card information.
4. Your content
Your saved decks are yours. You own the card lists you build and save. By storing them on Openhand, you grant us a limited license to store and display that data back to you (and, in the future, to others if you choose to make a deck public).
We will not use your deck data for advertising or sell it to third parties.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the app to scrape data at scale or overload our servers
- Attempt to bypass the free-tier deck limit through technical means
- Submit abusive or illegal content if community submission features are added
- Use the AI features to generate harmful, deceptive, or illegal content
- Impersonate another user or misrepresent your identity
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
6. Affiliate links and third-party sites
Openhand participates in the TCGPlayer affiliate program. Buy links are clearly marked as affiliate links. When you click one, you leave Openhand and your purchase is subject to TCGPlayer's own terms and policies. Openhand may earn a commission on eligible purchases at no additional cost to you.
We are not responsible for the content or practices of third-party sites.
7. AI features
The Strategy tab uses Anthropic's Claude API to generate responses. AI-generated advice is for informational and entertainment purposes only. It is not guaranteed to be accurate, current, or optimal for competitive play. Always verify tournament legality yourself.
Prompts you submit are processed by Anthropic under their terms. Do not submit personal information, passwords, or sensitive data through the AI chat.
8. Intellectual property
Pokémon, Pokémon TCG card names, and related trademarks are the property of Nintendo / Creatures Inc. / GAME FREAK inc. Card images are retrieved from the pokemontcg.io API and are used for deck-building reference purposes only.
The Openhand name, logo, and original code are owned by Openhand's operator. You may not copy or redistribute the app's source code without permission.
9. Disclaimers
Openhand is provided "as is." We make no guarantees about uptime, accuracy of card data, or legality rulings. Card legality information reflects our best understanding of the Standard 2026–27 format, but always check official Pokémon TCG rules for tournament play.
We are not responsible for losses arising from reliance on Openhand's content or AI-generated advice.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Openhand and its operator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising out of your use of the app. Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim (or $0 if you are on the free plan).
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which the operator is based. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect changes. For material changes, we will send notice to your account email. Continued use after notice constitutes acceptance.
